Our mission
Capacha Coastal Conservation Center advances sustainable design principles and practices along the southern coast of Jalisco, Mexico—the “Costalegre”. The Center is a joint venture among environmental nonprofits, regional universities, and the private sector, promoting interdisciplinary solutions for improved productivity, health, and resilience of coastal ecosystems and local economies.
Our mission in action
We offer opportunities to support coastal conservation while providing unique, comfortable and adventurous accommodations in a pristine coastal setting. Our locally sourced restaurant, Rojo, delivers cosmopolitan cuisine, serving fresh seafood and vegetarian dishes underneath our signature palapa. Our bungalows and restaurant have a capacity to host large student groups, special events, and conservation workshops.
We partner with non profits, such as Tierralegre, A.C., Fundación Sol Pacífico and the International Community Foundation, to realize conservation initiatives that improve the productivity, health, and resilience of coastal ecosystems and local economies. Our Center combines ecotourism with direct conservation while building workforce capacity to improve public health and welfare for local communities.
Coastal conservation
In addition to our commitment to integrative sustainable design and permaculture ethos in all our structures and systems, our current primary conservation projects are the re-introduction of the locally-extinct Military Macaw and our sea turtle conservation program.
