About Capacha center:
Capacha Coastal Conservation Center advances sustainable design principles and practices along the southern coast of Jalisco, Mexico—the “Costalegre”. The Center is a joint venture among environmental nonprofits, regional universities, and the private sector, promoting interdisciplinary solutions for improved productivity, health, and resilience of coastal ecosystems and local economies. We are dedicated to science-based environmental planning and direct action while providing community capacity-building services that support viable eco-tourism through sustainable hospitality and public outreach.
Our commitment to sustainable design and a permaculture ethos aligns with our direct service initiatives that support the re-introduction of the locally-extinct Military Macaw and our sea turtle monitoring & species preservation projects. Capacha works with local, state and federal environmental agencies and organizations to promote conservation at the landscape scale. Be part of the solution and join us at our main station where environmental advocacy and sustainable ecotourism meet by the ocean’s edge.

Activities:
Participate in our sea turtle monitoring and recovery project or join our upland habitat restoration efforts for the re-introduction of the locally exinct Military Macaw. When not on turtle patrol or furthering forest restoration, enjoy the many nearby recreational opportunities, including standup paddle boarding, surfing, kayaking, biking, beach combing, and birding.
